The Breville Barista Express is an espresso machine designed for home use. It has many features and is one of the top-rated and number-one-selling espresso machines on the Amazon platform.
Before we dive in, I do want to share my personal experience with the Breville brand. Many years ago, I bought a Breville juicer. That juicer lasted for several years without issue. The only reason we don’t have it now is that we moved and ended up donating it.
Overall, I think Breville is an excellent brand and makes high-quality appliances. That being said, let’s take a look at the Barista Express.

Pros of the Breville Barista Express
Integrated coffee grinder. Many users do like the coffee grinder and the fact that it has various grind settings.
High-Quality. Not only does this espresso machine produce high-quality espresso, but it is also high-quality in its manufacturing. It is made of steel so no cheap, plastic feel.
Saves money and time. If you want to save money on buying coffee from cafes during the week, this machine can help. You’ll also save yourself time from having to walk/drive to your local coffee shop, standing in line, and waiting for your drink.
Cons of the Breville Barista Express
Single boiler system. This may not be a huge issue for some users but you cannot steam milk and pull a shot at the same time.
Coffee grinder may overfill the basket. If you rely on the machine’s coffee grinder, it may ground too much coffee (as coffee expands) and overfill the basket. Definitely doesn’t make or break a buying decision, just something to be aware of.
Learning curve. It may take you several tries before you know how to use the espresso machine to meet your standards for a good shot of espresso. However, it will be worth it in the end.
